Brad Roberts is the front man of the Crash Test Dummies. Born and raised in the cold harsh regions of Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. His interest in music perhaps came at age 12 when he began to take guitar lessons.
He graduated at University with a Double B.A. Honors in English Literatureand Philosophy at Winnipeg. He started the group back in the late 80's and thought nothing of it. It was just a way to past the weekend with friends, and really was just a hobby. He has written just about all of the songs they perform except for Thick-Necked Man, which was written by band member Benjamin Darvill, and also Androgynous, which was written by Paul Westerberg, of a group called The Replacements.
To date he has taken a few places of residence. He left his place in Winnipeg in 1995 and moved to London, England. This was his place for writing the 3rd album, A Worm's Life. Since then, Brad now has a place down in Harlem. This was the writing place of their forth album, Give Yourself A Hand. It's here where Brad discovered he could do falsetto. After hearing it all around him down there, and finding himself singing it in the shower, he realized that he could pull it off on an album.
In the summer of 2000 he was in a near fatal car accident when his cadilac hit some loose gravel near the side of the road. It flipped and he was pulled to safety just before the car exploded into flames. With a broken arm he rested in a small lobster fishing town in Nova Scotia named Argle. There he found some local musicians and started to write some songs for them to play which soon
after turned into the dummies fifth album,
"I Don't Care That You Don't Mind."
In 2002 Brad put together a Crash Test Dummies Christmas album titled "Jingle All The Way", released October 8, 2002.
In 2003 "Puss 'N' Boots" was released.
Now in 2004 the latest album "Songs of The Unforgiven" has been released.
